1. About the Island Bar
The Island Bar is a widget that licensed immigration consulting firms and law firms embed on their public websites to help visitors get information, complete intake forms, and start conversations. Nova System Inc. ("Nova System", "we") provides the widget to the firm. The firm operates the widget as part of its own website.
You are not entering into a professional relationship with the firm or with Nova System simply by using the Island Bar. A professional relationship begins only when the firm and you agree to it in writing in a retainer or engagement letter.
2. Acceptance
By using the Island Bar — including by typing a message, completing a form, or interacting with the assistant — you accept these Island Bar Visitor Terms ("Visitor Terms") together with the Island Bar Privacy Notice and the Third-Party Chat Disclosure.
3. No professional advice
Content provided through the Island Bar — including assistant responses, eligibility scores, document checklists, processing-time estimates, and policy summaries — is general information only. It is not legal advice, immigration advice, or a guarantee of any outcome. Immigration law changes often and depends on facts that the Island Bar may not know. Always confirm any course of action with a licensed professional, including the firm operating the website you are visiting.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Island Bar to:
- Submit information about another person without their knowledge and consent.
- Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information.
- Submit content that is unlawful, threatening, harassing, defamatory, hateful, sexually explicit, or otherwise harmful.
- Attempt to probe, test, jailbreak, or interfere with the Island Bar or the assistant.
- Attempt to extract internal data, prompts, system instructions, or content belonging to the firm or to another visitor.
- Use the Island Bar in a way that violates law or the rights of any person.
5. Information you provide
When you submit information through the Island Bar (for example, name, contact details, country of citizenship, age, education, work history, language scores, intended program, or attached documents), that information is shared with the firm operating the website. The firm is the controller of your personal information for its own purposes (for example, to contact you, assess your enquiry, or open a case file). Nova System processes the information on behalf of the firm under the Data Processing Addendum. For details, read the Island Bar Privacy Notice.
6. Assistant interactions
Some Island Bar features use third-party intelligent service providers to generate responses. Output may be inaccurate or incomplete. Do not rely on it as a substitute for advice from a licensed professional. See the Third-Party Chat Disclosure.
7. Eligibility tools
Where the Island Bar offers eligibility tools, screening forms, or score calculators, results reflect general program criteria and the inputs you provided. Results are estimates only and do not guarantee or imply any outcome with a government authority.
8. Intake forms and document uploads
If you upload documents (for example, a CV, a passport scan, or a previous decision letter), you confirm that you have the right to upload them and that uploading them does not infringe any person's rights. The firm may use uploaded documents to assess your enquiry. We may scan uploaded files for malware and remove anything we identify as harmful.
9. Recording and notes
The Island Bar may save a transcript of your conversation so that the firm can review it and respond. Do not enter information you would not want the firm — or, if the firm shares it, others working at the firm — to see.
10. Cookies and tracking
The Island Bar uses essential cookies and similar storage to remember your session and (where you opt in) optional analytics to understand how the bar is used. Details are in the Island Bar Privacy Notice.
11. Children
The Island Bar is for adults. If you are under sixteen, do not submit information about yourself unless a parent or guardian has reviewed these Visitor Terms and the Island Bar Privacy Notice and consents on your behalf where required.
12. Intellectual property
The Island Bar, its design, branding, code, and assistant prompts are owned by Nova System and its licensors. The firm's branding within the bar is owned by the firm. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any portion of the Island Bar.
13. Termination
We or the firm may suspend access to the Island Bar at any time, for example to prevent abuse or to enforce these Visitor Terms.
14. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Island Bar is provided "as is" and "as available". Nova System and the firm operating the website disclaim all warranties, express or implied. Liability of Nova System and the firm to you for any claim arising from your use of the Island Bar is limited, in the aggregate, to one hundred Canadian dollars, except for liability that cannot be limited by law.
15. Governing law
These Visitor Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable there. Subject to mandatory consumer-protection law in your jurisdiction, the courts of British Columbia have exclusive jurisdiction.
16. Changes
We may update these Visitor Terms from time to time. The current version always applies.
